M² Subsea forms new vessel alliance with Harvey Gulf Marine International

UK-based remotely operated vehicle (ROV) service provider M² Subsea has partnered with vessel operator Harvey Gulf Marine International to offer subsea ROV services in the Gulf of Mexico.

The collaboration will see M² Subsea’s 150HP Triton XLX34 ROV system installed on Harvey Gulf’s DP2 survey support vessel, Harvey Bronco, which will be used to provide survey and inspection services.

The Triton is a heavy-duty, work-class ROV that is rated to 3,000m depth and has been designed to conduct various subsea operations.

Triton features a top-hat tether management system, as well as a survey junction box and auxiliary hydraulics. It will be used by Harvey Gulf for inspections and light intervention activities.

"The Harvey Bronco is a significant milestone for us as we continue to build on our successful vessel opportunities in the US."

Harvey Gulf Marine International chairman and CEO Shane Guidry said: “This alliance complements our existing fleet of multi-purpose support and light construction vessels, enabling Harvey Gulf to offer a broader range of services and superior performance to all other Jones Act vessel operators in the Gulf of Mexico.”

The company is set to dock its Harvey Bronco vessel at its operation yard in Port Fourchon, Louisiana, US.

The vessel is expected to be deployed to conduct an underwater inspection in lieu of dry-docking (UWILD) project later this month.

M² Subsea CEO Mike Arnold said: “The Harvey Bronco is a significant milestone for us as we continue to build on our successful vessel opportunities in the US and further enhance our overall service provision.”

The company is also currently engaged in various cost and risk reduction initiatives in order to meet the demands of the low oil price environment.
