Wärtsilä to maintain GasLog LNG Services' eight carriers

Wärtsilä has entered an agreement with Monaco-based GasLog LNG Services to provide maintenance services for eight liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers.

The carriers are operated by GasLog LNG Services and have been equipped with Wärtsilä dual-fuel engines.

The deal will initially cover four new GasLog LNG Services LNG carriers and will be expanded to a further four carriers through a renewal of services.

Wärtsilä is set to provide dynamic maintenance planning (DMP) and technical support as part of the arrangement, as well as spare parts, specialised technical personnel and performance monitoring for the eight LNG vessels.

The company will also provide remote troubleshooting, tuning of engines and software updates via its digital services team.

In addition, constantly accumulated performance data and detailed systems analysis will also be offered to GasLog on a regular basis.

Wärtsilä Greece managing director and Greece-Cyprus service unit director Yiannis Christopoulos said: “By analysing the operating conditions of the ship engines and streamlining maintenance accordingly, the operative efficiency of GasLog’s vessels is optimised at all times.

"By analysing the operating conditions of the ship engines and streamlining maintenance accordingly, the operative efficiency of GasLog’s vessels is optimised at all times."

“Instead of concentrating on the theoretical lifetime of engine components, we monitor their actual condition.

“By applying real-time installation data we can strive for optimum lifecycle utilisation of the entire installation.”

Wärtsilä and Gaslog originally signed a maintenance agreement for seven vessels operating in Gaslog’s fleet in 2014.

Gaslog currently operates a fleet of 27 LNG carriers, including 22 in operation and a further five on order, which are due to be delivered over the next two years.
