Seastreak has received a UCSG k-Class fast ferry to meet its demand of serving a growing number of customers in New York, US.
The new Seastreak Commodore vessel has been designed by Incat Crowther and is capable of carrying 600 passengers and six crew members.
Featuring a 45m length and 12m width, the ferry is the eighth Seastreak vessel designed by Incat Crowther.
Manufactured at Gulf Craftin Louisiana, US, Seastreak Commodore is powered by four MTU 12V4000 M64 main engines that comply with the US Environmental Protection (EPA) Tier III regulation.
With a 1.63m draft hull, the ferry is propelled by KaMeWa 63S4 waterjets and is capable of operating at a maximum speed of 35k.
The vessel’s interior comprises large, comfortable seats, faux-hardwood pattern carpet and LED lighting.
“She was built both for New York commuter runs but also for the open ocean and performs exceptionally well in both applications.”
It is used on the weekend run to Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket in Massachusetts, one of the longest high-speed ferry runs in the US.
Seastreak president James Barker said: “She was built both for New York commuter runs but also for the open ocean and performs exceptionally well in both applications.”
According to Incat Crowther, Seastreak Commodore includes similar but improved features of Seastreak’s other large ferry fleets, Seastreak Wall Street, Seastreak New Jersey, Seastreak Highlands, and Seastreak New York.
Seastreak Commodore’s boarding configuration aligns with existing shore-based infrastructure and comprises large side gates forward and aft, in addition to an adjustable bow ramp facilitating a fast turnaround at many of the network’s wharves.
